LEB View Point #2 - the Standby Power Generator From this position standing next to the Power Control Center, we can see the diesel powered Standby Generator. This unit will supply all of the electrical needs of the Launch Facility for several days, provided that it's underground fuel tank is full. In the event of a commercial power failure it is switched on automatically; it can also be activated both manually by technicians on site and remotely by the launch crew using a tone-activated device. The large box in front of the diesel engine is the control box; cooling airflow thru the large radiator and exhaust piping feed into the input of the exhaust fan for the LEB. BACK
