Captain Swoop's Virtual ICBM Tour presents...
Myths & Legends Of The Missile Field

Long drives, isolated sites, dangerous work, and human nature combine to create some colorful stories...

Welcome to the unseen side of the world of ICBM's - a few stories about the men, women, and machines that make up the system that became the "Victors Of The Cold War". Aside from the often strange goings-on during the development history of Minuteman, there are the continuing sagas that develop as time goes on. For, despite the perfect professional image that is literally required by regulation, these people are human beings, with all the weaknesses and frailties others have. And the mechanisms of war that they keep at ready are far from perfect as well: aging, under-funded, over-used, created and serviced by those same, imperfect humans. As I remember things told to me and encounter various stories from the Missile Field, I will relate them here, along with the "fact or fiction" status of each.
